I think it will be great to have the following:
1. Enable Desktop like Portlets which can be moved/minimzed/hidden etc. as iGoogle/My Yahoo etc. has.
Ext-Js has very nice example check: http://extjs.com/deploy/dev/examples/portal/portal.html
2. Enable Content Pane accept href from External Servers
(Can utilize XHR and other stuff from: http://www.psychdesktop.net/ )
This together with 1 will enable building Portals based on Dojo containing Contents from external Content Systems.
