yeh a split container in there would be great. Unfortunately, it's sort of a 'test' for accessibility, so we can't yet put a Grid in (instead of the custom table widget, which probably won't like resize connections very well, but might) ...
wrt to the download: it's all available in the 1.0 release download, and the most current version is available from svn ... it's in the path dijit/demos/mail.html and dijit/demos/mail/* (for supplemental files)
I would suggest to change theme and/or graphics of this demo. It is the only serious demo available here and it really doesn't look good. If I were first time here and see it, then see Ext2 demo and some other stuff, well this one doesn't seem to compete.
I have to agree with knight9 on this one (see previous post).
I have just started evaluating dojo for some serious commercial work for my company. Its not a real world solution to tell customers that "it only works with Firefox and Opera". Like it or not, they want it to work with IE as well.
Loading the mail demo gives "Runtime error, Line 20, Object doesn't support this property or method" with IE7. If it helps, my version of IE is 7.0.5730.11, update version 0.
Dojo looks really cool - on the outside. I appreciate that it seems to have metamorphosed quite quickly. That is bound to make things difficult for developers, so I accept there would be some learning curve at least, but I have to work to realistic commercial timescales when evaluating these things, and its not a great advert when these sorts of demos don't work cross-browser.
If this can be of some help, the beta version is working on the first load in IE but if you refresh the page, then you get the same error as in last release.
This is some rediculously bad work. Internet Explorer, I know you guys all hate it, but it's still being used by 80% of the people out there. This demo doesn't work and produces an ugly error message. The demo itself is also ugly, and the number of demos (two?!) is pointless.
Those of us who haven't used dojo before need to be shown what the sum of its parts are. Show us some real demos, not smoke and mirrors. Every component in dojo should have a demo. We don't need these do-it-all virtual web app demos. Show us one small, simple demo of each piece of dojo doing what it does.
Get your act together! The visibility of dojo is already monstrous. I want to believe that dojo kicks @$$, well prove it! Learn from YUI and Ext. They have their acts together.
I agree. I don't wanna be insulting but those demo suck.
The OS-X docker is sluggish on a 2.5 ghz pentium... The e-mail app is cut with firefox 2.0.11 on ubuntu.
Hey guys, hopefully dojo has a great reputation otherwise, you wouldn't have any new user with these demos.
We need a demo per widget, like swing demos, they are exactly what people look for. And a real sites portfolio would be great, (create a Dojo powered logo..). There is clearly no information at all for people who just saw Dojo written twice on the net in the same day that come here to discover what Dojo is.
Explain what Dojo is !
Give examples !
That s all, we newbies wanna see here. A powerful open source ajax toolkit with clear examples.
(And stop using those crystal icons everywhere on the web site, too much is too much)
I attempted to publish the demo via asp.net 2.0 / IIS 6... The folder / message lists never populate. It runs correctly on the development server but not in deployment... perhaps i need to enable one or more handler / verb pairs... without digging through the library code does anyone know how to achieve this?

Great Demo !
I would like to see the columns be expandible (grab and widen or shrink)
I didn't see a link to download source files... is view source all we need here ?

This is the original link.. just view source and it will work...

IE Doesnt Function
There is an error when viewing this demo via IE6 and IE7 as of 11.19.2007. It doesn't show the "frames" properly, nor do any of the buttons function.
Not a very good selling point to people looking for frameworks when the demo does not function.
Me 2 - IE7 is not happy
I have to agree with knight9 on this one (see previous post).

Can anyone shed any light on the problem ?
Beta version nearly worked

Per Widget demos are present
Per widget demos can be found at http://archive.dojotoolkit.org/nightly/dojotoolkit/dijit/tests/
Open the HTML files in the browser to view the widgets and check the sources. I think this would help.
I had the same problem when I started using Dojo initially, but the tests solve most of the issues.

All examples are good. Nice. :)
Please save me some time!
Dojo demos look great in Firefox but does Dojo honestly work with IE.
I cannot get one demoto work in IE at all and there are lots of js errors.
What gives?
