SVG Open 2007 slides on DojoX GFX

As promised I published both my slides I prepared for the SVG Open 2007 — a 30-minute keynote and a 2.5-hour session.

I delivered the keynote talking about the current landscape of the browser-based interactive vector graphics, gave a short overview of DojoX GFX, and announced the completion of two Google SoC projects: GFX 3D (student: Kun Xi), and 3D Charting (student: Neil Joshi). Of course some demos were shown as well.

But before that we had the session dedicated to discussing the GFX in details, with more demonstrations. Unfortunately the most interesting part of the session is not reflected in slides — it was a Q&A session, where people asked really insightful, and sometimes difficult questions about design decisions, drawbacks of different backends, our solutions to some problems, our future plans, and the web graphics in general.

Organizers of the conference were able to assemble a set of interesting presentations. Sometimes I was torn between different tracks. For example, for various reasons I've skipped the GIS track, which is of great interest for me. I hope majority of presenters will publish their slides as well. Of course, it is not the same as a live presentation, but it is better than nothing.

Tomorrow I'll publish some new demo files, which include the original artwork by our own Pete Higgins. I am very grateful to him and two more artists, which were able to help me on a short notice to prepare slides and demos.

PS: Slides are published on SlideShare, so you don't need to download anything to see slides even for full screen viewing . But if you do want to download them as PDF files, use the "Download file" link below the slide window on the SlideShare's web site.

Slides and SVG

Thanks for the slides. I really would like to read more about Google Soc Projects. And I also think that since the Firefox and other browsers are getting more and more popular day by day, SVG seems not losing so much thing by the lack of IE support.

Is it possible to download these slides as PowerPoint files or do we have the chance of downloading PDFs only?

Slides and SVG

Thanks for letting us see the slides of keynote here. Of course I would be more happy if I were able to listen it live in Tokyo but it is also great to have chance to see the slides. GFX 3D makes me really excited. :)

All the best,
